Traveling, the need to travel is what drives me high as of the moment. I want to go out of the country. I feel that I’m just too bounded by my home. I want to explore, do some things, find myself; maybe find someone in the process. There comes a point in a person’s life where he needs to do some soul-searching. I need to do that, to maintain my focus. The urge is so strong right now. Still I can’t do anything about it yet, unless I finish my degree. That is, IF I can.

That’s why I sometimes envy my colleagues who are so well-traveled. They’ve not only toured our own country, but also traversed through distant lands. As for me, I can only trek around the confines of an air-conditioned building. I know eventually, my time will come. But as of the moment, since I’m still stuck somewhere in the middle, I’m doing my own research of the places I’m planning to visit.

I’m gathering a lot of information with regard to the spots they’ve come across, the transportation, the culture, the ambiance, as well as the hotels they have checked in; which is one thing I’m very particular about.

You can only imagine how taxing it is to stay in a place where you’re not comfortable after a long day’s journey. Vegas, every time I hear this word it’d always invoke images of Casino and fun of pretty women and money, of late nights and instant weddings. Reminds of me of an episode in Roswell where Liz and Max underwent one of those instant weddings. Wonder what its like to live in Vegas, with all the entertainment and fun. When to the mall earlier was on my way to a computer shop to check some stuff out when I pass by this travel agency which displays a bunch of posters of various tourists destinations from New York to Spain. What caught my eye was Museo del Prado (Prado Museum), must have been the name or the fact that its a museum. It caught me the same way the Louvre Museum in France did.

Must be the image on the poster, the way it was captured or the mystery it beholds. Who knows? Museums are magical for me, in the sense that it stores centuries of wisdom. Did a bit of research on the background of the museum and being in Madrid Spain, it boosts of one of the world’s finest collections of European art, from the 12th to the 19th century. Th best known display at the museum is Las Meninas by Velazquez. This Maestro was also responsible for bringing much of the museum’s fine collection of Italian masters to Spain. One of the things prospective travellers would take into cosideration would be accomodation, there are various hotels in Madrid ranging from 4 to 5 stars in terms of quality.

Another attraction in Spain (the wanderer in me is on the move again!!!), is La Boqueria a lage public market from La Rambla in Barcelona, Catalonia and is not far from the Liceu (the opera house in Barcelona). The market boosts of diverse selection of goods. Hotels in Barcelona, near the Liceu or in La Boqueria are not hard to find, being a tourist attraction.

Overall, as same with France, there are rampant hotels in Spain too situated strategically in various tourists attractions so as to accomodate natives and foreigners alike either during the peak or the lean season.

Paris, where Lestat got spotted by Magnus and made into a vampire in Anne Rice’s Vampire Lestat. An old city, the epitome of romanticism, of fashion and glamour, of elegance and the classical. The city were Christine Daae got entrapped in Eriks’s music and passion.

A relatively small city but is very much attracting visitors from all over the world. Situated on the River Seine, it has long been considered the paragon of style and the most glamorous city in all of Europe. Classical and modern in the strickest sense of the word, with the tiny alleyways and lanes to the pompous vista from Louvre to La Defense.

There’s also the reknowned landmark, Eiffel Tower built by Gustave Eiffel, where Tom Cruise proposed marriage to Katie Holmes. Whew!

Then there’s the Notre Dame de Paris, known simply as Notre Dame and is the seat of the Archbishop of Paris, considered to be the finest example of French Gothic architecture saved from destruction by Viollet-le-Duc.

The Louvre, considered to be most visited art museum in the world as of 2006 is one of the many attractions and a must visit in Paris. It houses some of the world’s most famous works of arts, such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, The Virgin and the Child by St. Anne to name a few.

The Sacre Coeur Basilica in the summit of Montmartre is another popular landmark in Paris France. A catholic basilica dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, also the home of a large and very fine organ built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll for a private home in Biarritz.

Another attraction is the Arch de Triomphe, in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle. This serves to honor those soldiers who fought for France especially during the Napoleonic Wars, it also has the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Then a dinner while cruising the Seine River would be most romantic especially at night. Definitely another attraction in Paris both for couples and singles alike.
